In the film Braveheart, the main character William Wallace is regarded as a tragic hero. What do you think is his fatal flaw? im thinking its because he’s ambitious. or maybe it’s that he’s willing to trust other people, which eventually caused his downfall. is his courage his flaw? what do you think?
Yes this is a homework question, but i really need help plz?
It seemed to me that many of those he fought for did not understand his higher ideals of freedom. He trusted others because he thought that they also understood how wonderful freedom was. He was betrayed by those who still wanted to be ruled over, just on better terms. Wallace was well educated in the movie, I think others just couldn’t understand the concept of freedom as deeply as he did. Many fought by his side out of loyalty, but few others really understood what it meant to be free.

he was an idealist…in a world of politicians you are doomed to get stabbed in the back…
p.s. it also would have helped had he had more soldiers…lol

No his flaw/weakness is his trust… he does trust people and he shouldnt but that’s just because he has a heart. His other weakness is his woman… that really hurt him bad… his courage is brilliant..

He was too trusting and a little naive
……those that betrayed him did so to protect themselves and to benefit from the English king. If Wallace had been cunning he would have offered similar incentives to those who were allied to him
