Braveheart? regarding william wallace?

in the film braveheart, the character william wallace had many tragic events happened to him that motivates him. the two major events r his father death and his wife’s murder. wat other events do u think motivates him?

when the Irish conscripts join his army, when the highlanders come in their droves, from the different clans to join him too.
I think angus’ father sees william as his adopted son, and seeing an old man give everything in battle, even fighting on with an arrow in his chest proves to william that what they are doing is worth fighting for.
the betrayal of william by robert the bruce and the other chiefs spurs william on even further, after he realises that if they are going to make a difference to the scottish people, they have to do it themselves, without the help of the nobles

question regarding BRAVEHEART?

In the film Braveheart, the main character William Wallace is regarded as a tragic hero. What do you think is his fatal flaw? im thinking its because he’s ambitious. or maybe it’s that he’s willing to trust other people, which eventually caused his downfall. is his courage his flaw? what do you think?
Yes this is a homework question, but i really need help plz?

It seemed to me that many of those he fought for did not understand his higher ideals of freedom. He trusted others because he thought that they also understood how wonderful freedom was. He was betrayed by those who still wanted to be ruled over, just on better terms. Wallace was well educated in the movie, I think others just couldn’t understand the concept of freedom as deeply as he did. Many fought by his side out of loyalty, but few others really understood what it meant to be free.

How accurate was Mel Gibson in portraying the life of William Wallace and Edward I of England…?

…(1239-1307) in Braveheart?
What was the knickname of the king, and what actor played Edward I in Braveheart?

Only the names are accurate, the rest is a load of c*ap. It used to be that names were changed to protect the innocent. In this movie, the names stay the same to disguise the lies. Mel Gibson is a man with many problems, a hatred of Britain, being an abusive loud mouthed drunk and being a well known anti semitic being just a few of them. Poetic license is another name for changing the facts completely. One fact is that the Scots did not wear kilts at that time, so the scene where the English army was mooned by the Scots only occurred in Gibson’s head, well known to be addled by drink.

Who would win in a fight: William Wallace from Braveheart or Kirstie Alley?

Who would win in a fight? King Leonidas, Maximus, Achilles, or William Wallace?

My friends and i have debated this… Who would be the champion after this fight? Would it be King Leonidas from "300", Maximus Arruelius from "Gladiator", Achilles from "Troy" or would it be William Wallace from "Braveheart"?????

If they all existed as described in tales, Achilles would easily win. Leonidas was real, and so was Sir William Wallace. Achilles is a mythical character, and Maximus is only a movie character. Some myths say Achilles was a giant 13.5 feet tall, and he was immensely strong and quick, plus Death had power only over his heel, so he would be quite formidable. He was not invulnerable, as some people wrongly say. He was wounded in the arm by Asteropaeus in the "Iliad", and he was wounded by Memon in the "Aethiopis". Leonida was in his 50s at Thermopylae, so he was past his prime. William Wallace was a big man. I belong to a Yahoo Group about "StrongestMen", and there is an essay about Achilles that was added last week. Someone calculated that if he was 13′-6" tall, he would weigh about 2300-2500 pounds. Leonidas, Maximus and even William Wallace would be babies compared to such a huge strongman. One man I know laughs about Brad Pitt playing Achilles. At the first of the movie, he beats Boagrius played by Nathan Jones, a 6′-10", 350 lbs, powerlifting champion of Australia. Nathan Jones should play Achilles. Brad Pitt was more Diomed, a small man who beat big men with his skill and bravery.

During the Battle of the Stirling Bridge, what was the budget the Scots had or what were their expenses?

There is this movie Braveheart wherein William Wallace fights a war.
We needed information on what was the approx. budget by which they fought their war.
i would appreciate any kind of help on this matter.
Thank You.

This rebellion had no single source of funds and no documentation so its impossible to say. Individual soldiers brought their own weapons and horses and the better fed brought their own provisions. Locals who were in sympathy donated provisions and those who weren’t in sympathy had them stolen by raiding troops.

If it had lasted longer, the movement would have fallen apart due to lack of organization and funds. That’s why rebellions must succeed at once or die.

Do you think there different kinds of freedom or has the definition of freedom been distorted?

for example: Is the freedom William Wallace fought for in Braveheart the same kind of freedom gays/lesbians or abortion rights activists want? Or do you see any difference?

There are differences. Gay/lesbians want rights to be equal under the laws. Abortion rights activists want their right to control and decide on issues of abortion. These conditions were made by patriots fighting for freedom from ruling government interference. Something William Wallace fought for in Braveheart. And, the US Constitution where every person has inalienable rights fought for us by American patriots.

I thought of William Wallace’s victory over the English in Braveheart, that’s what I felt when I saw the Giants win.

I thought of Joe Namath in Super Bowl 3.

Good luck!!
