It is the day William Wallace (Braveheart) painted his face blue and kicked some English butt.
Yes, of course. *rolls eyes*
i love the movie Braveheart (which incase u don’t know is about William Wallace) but im prettey sure, like with most movies about true events, they strayed away from what really happened. so im wanting to read a book about William Wallace to learn the true facts. can someone tell me of a good book that is based on the life of William Wallace?

Yeah, they REALLY did a number on that story when they made the movie. The whole war was supposed to be fought Guerilla-style because they had so few men compared to the english. I’ve never read a book on the subject, or him, but he’s one of my favorite historical figures as well. I did find this: http://www.scottishradiance.com/bookreviews/wallace.htm.
Surprisingly, I can’t find many books about him, except Braveheart, of course. Try the link, though. =)
Wallace WAS a great Scottish warrior, who did hand the English their arse at the Battle of Stirling, simply by getting them to funnel their entire army across a bridge. At the opposite end of the bridge were the Scots, who hammered them piecemeal as they came off the bridge.
At the follow-up Battle of Falkirk, the Scots used the pike defense they were shown in the movie as using at the 1st battle but it didn’t prevent them from losing the fight.
The movie was correct in the graphic degree of savagery shown in the fight sequences. The rest of the flick was good ol’ fashioned fiction!! The blue facepaint, for one, was something the Britons of ROMAN times had done but that had been almost 1000 years previous. By the 1200s-1300s, nobody was really doing that anymore.
Plus, after Falkirk, Wallace opted to get away from combat & rely on the more boring, yet no less vital, tactic of diplomacy w/ the French, trying to get further military support from them in opposing the English. The screemplay opted to skip over that even though Wallace undertook that route for about 10 years!
Gotta give props to the movie for factoring in 19th C. Scottish poet Robert Burns’ poem Bannockburn into the last lines of the film though, lol.
”The title of the film is also historically inaccurate as the "brave heart" refers in Scottish history to that of Robert the Bruce, and an attribution by William Edmondstoune Aytoun, in his poem Heart of Bruce, to Sir James the Good: "Pass thee first, thou dauntless heart, As thou wert wont of yore!", prior to Douglas’s demise at the Battle of Teba in Andalusia”

Is he betrayed by nobles? if so , how?
He is betrayed by Robert the Bruce at the behest of his father. But Robert does redeem himself at the end of the movie by leading Wallace’s army against the British
Not Lord Bottoms. It was the soldier who dragged murron and tried to rape her so she scaped his face and spat at his face. He was also seen early in the film and said to murron ‘you remind me of my daughter back home’
Benny Hill.
and was it accurate that England was an evil tyrant opressing Scotland?
Melvin Gibson did not let the truth get in the way of a ripping good yarn dear girl.
I believe his next film (a biopic of Henry VIII) involves Henry travelling to Rome to have a meeting with Julius Caesar whilst indulging in a quick fling with Queen Boudicca on his return.
William Wallace (Braveheart)
vs
King Leonisdas (300)
vs
Maximus (Gladiator)
damn, that’s a good question. i’m actually gonna go with maximus.
