So because I’m an idiot when it comes to music genres, I need help.
I’m really looking for classical/celtic type music. Something like the Lord of the Rings soundtrack or Braveheart even. Anyone have any suggestions? I’d really like something with bagpipes, but anything relaxing and instrumental is great too.
All suggestions welcome and apppreciated!
Not all their songs are instrumental, and the instrumental songs of theirs are kind of fast, but check out Battlefield Band. They’re a Celtic group I saw recently (had to go, had never really listened to Celtic music before) and they turned me into a fan. Great music, and they really tear their instruments up (especially bagpipes and fiddle). Here’s a good song or two:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lfBYwM27xw&feature=related "Leaving Friday Harbour"
Check out more of their stuff (about half or so will have lyrics and words though, still great)

As for more classical instrumental music, apart from actual classic composers, you might like post-rock. Listen to this (beautiful) song by a band called Explosions in the Sky. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nzj-ksNOMfU Check them out and more post rock if you like it.
Hope I helped some. Take care.

It’s not relaxing, but check out Apocolyptica. They are a band of four cellists who make some incredibly intense music. Their claim to fame are their instrumental versions of Metallica songs.
check them out @ http://www.last.fm/music/Apocalyptica
