    JohnMacDonald… …
JohnMacDonald…Wallace beat the English at Stirling and Scotland became independent directly from this battle and the battle on Bannockburn in 1314. Scotland was independent until the year 1707 when they joined with England not because defeat on the battlefield but financial troubles. Now Scotland has a chance to be independent again. I know as a Scot that those who support carry the spirit of Wallace, The Bruce, and Prince Charlie with us when we support this. If your Scottish vote SNP!

    What evidence have …
What evidence have you for this claim? Have you read any of the history of the formation of the UK? As you say “joining” with England, Wales and Norhtern Ireland is quite different than succumbing to english rule.

    i hate this film. …
i hate this film. it is so false. ” oh, yes, lets fight for freedom.” what a joke. we still got destroyed in the end and joined with england so technically william wallace did nothing

    “bad guys” usually …
“bad guys” usually are the ones who are anti-freedom…otherwise..when it comes to this type of movie..they wouldn’t be “bad guys.” The killing is only justified because they’re at war. They can’t walk up to the English and say “we would like to be free because it’s not fair you control everything we do,” that wont’ work. We still go to war today and have to kill the enemy. Plus, in this movie, you have a friend turn on his ally all for money.

What movie would you like to see?

    Even in the modern …
Even in the modern world, freedom is a rare comodity. And it always requires blood because no one is going to give it to you for free. Just ask any Chinese that’s serving a life sentence for bucking their government. We’re losing our freedoms on a daliy basis here in America.

But I’m sure that in your country, beheading a Journalist or strapping a bomb to a child for “Jihad” is a more “acceptable” reason to kill right? The more you attack our culture the more it shows your jealousy. Blah blah.

  9. Reubenhubert Says:

OK, how can a film …
OK, how can a film based on a real man who fought to free Scotland from the English be just blabla? I suppose you would rewrite history to show them all sitting down to tea and airing their differences. This period in history was a brutal time. Maybe the torture should be replaced with feet tickling. I bet you are a film major who never had to take history classes.

    This is the best …
This is the best movie ever made, (my opinion) perhaps other movies are always about freedom and crap kind of true, but this movie uses freedom in the totally right way.

    How American!…

    How American!…

Have you noticed how, when a Hollywood scene is not about love and yet wants to get emotional, it’s usually about “freedom”? Tough guys getting all euphoric, blabla.

It’s so one-dimensional (especially since the bad guys are always anti-”freedom”). And incredibly uncreative. Not to mention that it’s ordinarily used to justify killing other people.

It can ruin the best movies…

    Maybe if you or …
Maybe if you or your family or town or country is oppressed then you will know what those people are going through now.
Right now you are having a good life & innocent women & children are suffering…but what do you care.
You are just like them maybe!

This movie makes you think a lot of the Palestinian peoples struggles & one day they will also have a hero like “Wallace” to unify the oppressed & destroy the tyrants…
