Hey guys, just starting to get into the whole bluray thing and damn does it ever make the biggest difference in quality. Love going to futureshop and awe at the 1080p big screens playing braveheart or sumthing…. Anyways, i have my laptop which is connected to my 32" 720p by HDMI cord of course. I dont have a bluray drive in laptop but i download bluray movies onto my laptop and play it via HDMI to TV… I dont know if i am doing it wrong or sumthing cuz i dont notice that amazing difference anymore? am i loosing quality somehow by downloading bluray and not having the proper player? Sum self-help realizations ive come to for the problem are…
1) real bluray movies are around 50gigs. gettin em online they downconvert it to usually 8gb. could be loss of quality there? but would it be significant?
2) When playing bluray on a 720p tv i should up’ up my resolution of laptop to 1280X720, in accordance to a 720p tv with 720p movie. But still didnt really see difference
3) i understand that 1080p looks better then 720p but only usually noticeable on much larger tv’s. Thus, a tv my size it wouldn’t matter, amirite?
4) perhaps my video card on my laptop just cant play bluray discs in there full glory, it is incompatible or sumthing. And yes i play the movies through VLC
5) i need glasses, lol but really the high definition i could see from bluray is quite noticeable on vivid colours and really defined textures i.e u can see the ripples in sum guys leather jacket, u can see the polish shined glare of a car in fast and furious etc….
is there sumthing im missing here? oh and laptop is hp pavillion dv6000
You cant get the quality of blue ray through a computer, because your computer like you said is not a blue ray player. Downloading a blue ray movie is the same as downloading any other thing online, the picture quality sound or anything else isnt the same as if you had a blue ray player and blue ray movie discs. So right now you’re just watching regular movies. To get the blue ray definition, you would need to buy a blue ray player. or a ps3! lol
