In the film braveheart, the main character William Wallace is regarded as a tragic hero. What do you think is his fatal flaw? im thinking its because he’s ambitious. or maybe it’s that he’s willing to trust other people, which eventually caused his downfall. is his courage his flaw? what do you think?
Yes this is a homework question, but i really need help plz?
It seemed to me that many of those he fought for did not understand his higher ideals of freedom. He trusted others because he thought that they also understood how wonderful freedom was. He was betrayed by those who still wanted to be ruled over, just on better terms. Wallace was well educated in the movie, I think others just couldn’t understand the concept of freedom as deeply as he did. Many fought by his side out of loyalty, but few others really understood what it meant to be free.
question regarding BRAVEHEART?
How accurate was Mel Gibson in portraying the life of William Wallace and Edward I of England…?
…(1239-1307) in braveheart?
What was the knickname of the king, and what actor played Edward I in Braveheart?
Only the names are accurate, the rest is a load of c*ap. It used to be that names were changed to protect the innocent. In this movie, the names stay the same to disguise the lies. Mel Gibson is a man with many problems, a hatred of Britain, being an abusive loud mouthed drunk and being a well known anti semitic being just a few of them. Poetic license is another name for changing the facts completely. One fact is that the Scots did not wear kilts at that time, so the scene where the English army was mooned by the Scots only occurred in Gibson’s head, well known to be addled by drink.
what do you think of this ?
thnx for your time ..i wrote something that came to my mind after watching braveheart movie ..plz tell me what do you think of it .
A brave heart is the heart that beats for justice and bleeds for its loved ones . That loves with passion and hates with fairness . That judges with wisdom and grasps on values with firmness …….A brave heart is the heart that fights for its country not only by guns and swords but also by litters and words . That stands in the way of the furious waves of oppression like no mountain could ever do …….
It’s a jaguar when it chases the truth .. It’s a lion when it roars at the face of death …it’s a dewdrop on a delicate rose..
Will we find that brave heart on day ?? that’s the question I would love to ask .
and if you could please rate it on a scale of 1-10 …thank you again
It’s difficult to know what to say about this. The sentiments are laudable but not original but it’s nicely written. However, it’s based on a sham movie that owes little to history. It’s Hollywood’s version and the film-makers make their money from raising emotions in unsubtle ways. Take the time to study real history and base your sentiments on that.
How come in the movie Braveheart the Americans are still using the word British to describe the English?
i mean what part of Braveheart does the Scottish (also British) say lets kick British ass ? . i have been reading about braveheart of yahoo. and many Americans say British time and time Again. are you guys really that thick did u even listen to the movie ????
Your question is a little confusing. It sounds like you are complaining that Americans are calling the English "Brits" on a discussion board about the movie Braveheart. Not having seen the discussion, it is impossible to see what the context was, but I imagine it was a casual conversation going on. Of course, all of the countries of the UK were not united then, so there would have been no Great Britain yet, but in a casual conversation I can see how people might revert to what is familiar to them and there is some basis for them doing so. My brother-in-law is from England and calls himself a Brit. Of course, the Britons actually pre-date the Angles (from which the name England was eventually created). Some Britons were absorbed by the Gaelic tribes on the northern part of the island and eventually became Scots. Others left the island and formed Brittany in France. The Romans called the island Britannia and their occupation was over a thousand years before William Wallace. The term Britain did not just come from thin air. There is a very long history associated with it or its derivative.
I applaud your effort to educate others that those people living on the southern part of the island would have referred to themselves as English at the time, but almost every country’s people call themselves multiple names. Who knows, maybe a few Saxons whose ancestors survived William the Conqueror still referred to themselves that way two hundred years later. Some might have even referred to themselves as Brits. I am from the southern United States and throughout our history we have been referred to as confederates, southerners, rebels, grays and the region as Dixie. I have seen many references to the land of Dixie for a time period when the term had yet to be used. That doesn’t upset me. It is an easily recognized term to describe a certain area of the United States.
Maybe you should be upset with the Aussie who directed the film about the gross historical inaccuracies concerning the revolutionary Scot. ;0)
"Kidnapping" the bride?
Another poster sparked this question that I had forgotten about.
I went to a wedding where they did the "kidnapping" the bride and demanding a certain amount of ransom before she was released. Anyway, when the bestman ran in the reception all dramatic and told us this I was pretty much offended and refused to pay. So were some other people. He thought we were kidding and two hours later a super ticked off bride came through the door demanding to know why we had refused to pay her "ransom".
I know historically back in braveheart times this was actually a concern but is it really a tradition now to recreate that in some cultures like a money dance? In my mind it was just the bride and groom trying to be cute and milk us for more money…did I miss something?
They are stupid. You are correct!
